This 50 Rials banknote was issued during the reign of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and is today a nostalgic piece of Iran’s monetary history, dating back nearly seventy years.

The front side features a portrait of Mohammad Reza Shah wearing a formal military uniform, symbolizing the authority and modernization efforts of the Pahlavi era.

The reverse side depicts the Kuhrang Tunnel and Dam Project, one of Iran’s most important water engineering achievements of the twentieth century. The project was designed to transfer water from the Karun River basin to central Iran, playing a significant role in agricultural and industrial development.
